PREPARE FOR CERTIFICATION

Program is specifically designed to prepare students to obtain certification from either the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

A CURRICULUM THAT PREPARES YOU FOR SUCCESS

Both M.S. in Exercise Physiology concentrations require a minimum of 33 credit hours and consist of 4 curriculum areas: Foundation Courses, Exercise Physiology Core Courses, Concentration Courses, and Capstone Experience Courses.

Advanced Biomechanics
Advanced Laboratory Techniques
Current Topics in Exercise Physiology
Nutrition for Sport and Exercise
Research Methods and Data Analysis
Ethical and Legal Aspects of Sport and Exercise

Options for a 6 credit-hour capstone include a thesis, completion of an internship (300 hours), or a self-designed experience incorporating an internship, project, and electives.

CHOOSE FROM TWO CONCENTRATION OPTIONS

Clinical Exercise Physiology (CEP)

Learn skills critical in clinical, medical, or research settings including electrocardiography interpretation, chronic disease management, and how to promote healthy behavior change in their patients.

Human Performance (HP)

Develop skills related to coaching and sports science including the psychological aspects of sport, guiding performance improving programs for athletes of all ages, injury prevention, and utilizing emerging technology to collect, analyze, and apply data to optimize sports performance.
